Kamau Siyolo (aka Lyndon Brian Lewis)
Where am I from?
I hail from Diamond Vale, Diego Martin, Trinidad, West Indies - yes that is in the Caribbean the place to be!

Zodiac
Scorpian...ladies beware (I am required to issue that warning ;-) )

Education
I attended Trinity Junior, passed for my first choice, of course, which was surprise, surprise - Trinity College ha ha ha. I repeated in St Anthony's College (great school) and got seven O's. My parents wanted me to go on to sixth form to do "A's" but I resisted kicking and screaming to the end and got a job instead. You see, I had NO intentions of torturing myself with "A" Levels and then UWI.

In 1988, I went to the "States" and got my Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Towson University, Maryland. I wanted to get back home in a hurry so I completed the four year program in only two and a half years! For those of you studying in the States, it can be done with hard work and dedication to duty... plus you save MAJOR dollars man!

Health & Fitness
I am 6' 1" tall and weigh 225lbs make that 240lbs! GULP! Recently, I discovered that drinking nothing but fresh fruit juice before noon is a major energy booster! Goodbye bacon & eggs oui! If you have not tried it, do it for a week and tell me if you feel the difference.

Exercise is a standard part of my life. From about the age of 16 or so I invested in my first Weider gym set. I work out mainly at Fitness Center, right here in Diego Martin. (Update! Their rates are now TT$345 a month!!! Apparently, they have purchased new equipment and see the need for ME to pay for it for them. HA! Forget that. I see no need to pay for equipment designed for lazy people to work out easier. Back to home workouts for me oui.

I have a picture of me in 1991 around somewhere and will upload it soon. I was about 190lbs then and believe me when I say I thought I was HUGE!!! For those who don't know - I was 155lbs at my current height!!! So when I hit the big 190lbs, man I was on top of the world. :-) Ha ha ha.

Then around 1994 I decided to take my body building a bit more seriously and then all of a sudden I went to 205, then 210, then 220, the next thing I knew, I was a pretty big guy at 230lbs! That was it for me, it was time to tone it down a bit, now I am at a cool 220lbs.

(Update - currently at 232lbs! Need to exercise!)

Carnival Time
Yours truly is a bona fide mas player. Every year since my return in 1991 I have participated in Carnival. For years I played with Poison. In 1999 I switched to a medium sized band called Trini Revellers and had the best Carnival time of my life! Sadly, there were virtually no women around...so it's back to another big band oui - I ent ready for dat yet! BTW (by the way), for the pic above the sun was in my eyes and as you can see it's hard to smile properly with the stinging 9am sun directly in your eyes, the band done leave and some nice women walking behind the cameraman!

Tattoo
A few years ago, 1999 I think, I went to the Tattoo Farm with my printout of the Trinibase logo and the artist there made a very good impression of it and zapped me with it! That's the best way to describe getting a tattoo really. A series of about 1 million and 25 zaps per second! It looks great though and I have had many an enquiring look at what so CLEARLY is an abstract impression of Trinidad and Tobago in an abstract box representing a computer monitor! It's not Chinese scripting ha ha ha.

Some pics

Graduation Time!!! YES!
With my good buddy Regie from Sierre Leone

This is the jam! The best Carnival ever and it wasn't with Poison???!!! Go figure! TRINI REVELLERS RULE!
See the guy with the microphone in his hand to the right of the pic? That's the singer for the band having a time with the revellers in the band. He even let us shout into the mic for the chorus from time to time. GREAT FUN!

Work & Business
After attaining my Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, I returned home to sweet TriniLand - my patent pending name for Trinidad.

First I worked on my own a bit and things were progressing pretty well. However, my folks convinced me to do a stint at BWIA. Hey, they just helped me finance my university degree - it was the least I could do, right?

After a year or two at BWIA I accepted a job offer from Lever Brothers. After one year at Lever Brothers I packed it in and hit the ground running with my own home-based computing company.

I have completed several interesting projects over the years. However, with the dawn of the year 2000 I decided to refocus my business and concentrate solely on the Internet. More to the point, how the Internet can be used to truly benefit the Caribbean community.

To this end I am releasing several new and innovative web sites, namely. These web sites will be representative of the new motto for IES -
"putting technology to work for you!"

Why the name change?
Many people have enquired why I changed my name, the reason is so simple yet still they are perplexed. Here is the reason:

One of the most proud and noble honors one can bestow on one's child is a name. A name says who you are and secures in your heart - heritage.

An integral part of the system which served to dehumanize the Africans brought to the "New World" slaves were not allowed to be known or referred to their African names, they were replaced with European names.

It is readily apparent that this method of dehumanization was OVERWHELMINGLY SUCCESSFUL. To this day many bear European names with pride and laugh at the sound of an African name...but never at an Indian, Syrian, Chinese, or any other ethnic group.

In my view all I am doing is righting a wrong - that's all. Nothing more, nothing less. My new name Kamau means "quiet warrior" and it is Kenyan from the Kinutu tribe. A tribe which fiercely resisted colonial rule. And Siyolo is Zulu for "this is joy", the history of Zulu resistance and pride is world renowned.

Incidentally, our Names database currently consists of hundreds of ethnic African and Indian names. Check it out and make that change today!

That's it for now folks, hope you enjoyed reading this page:

Yes folks, the degree is real. Not no Pastor Cuffie overnight degree! Ha ha ha.
